I've got a client coming in with a 1998 Jetta and wants a detail - especially the interior. I everything at home and don't own a high volume detail shop. I don't have a steam cleaner, all I have for the interior are Meg's APC+ and 303 products. I'm not sure if these will remove tough stains. The client sent me some pictures, here they are:

Go to Home Depot or Lowe's...grab a bottle of Folex for your arsenal. It is a wonderful spot cleaner for interiors...carpet, headliners, whatever.

If you have a pressure washer, that would be great for the mats (scrub them down with a brush + cleaner) and hit them. If no pressure washer, you could opt to do the same with a water hose on the hard spray setting, just rinse really well.

Pre-treat with Folex, brush it in real good, then mix some extremely hot water with APC+, brush it in as well and then extract the water using a wet vac. You must extract as much as you can or the stains will resurface. This is how I cleaned carpets and upholstery before I got an HP60 and a commercial steamer. It's not the most efficient way to clean carpets but it can do a decent job with some effort.
