Got back home last night and came into the office today to get caught up from being gone a week. Thanks to Meghan, Penny, Bobby and the rest of the team here, the list of things to do is quite short considering that I was gone for an entire week. Meghan does a great job of keeping things running smooth when we leave for the SEMA Show.

This is my third year in a row representing Autogeek.net at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas and thanks to Max, each year just keeps getting better and better and I am thankful to be a part of it. During the show the Autogeek.net booth was literally a who's who of names that matter in the car care industry. It was just like our Shop By Brand (http://www.autogeek.net/productlines.html) page, only in person! (and even a few company reps/owners stopped by to visit who's products aren't on Autogeek.net)

There is a long list of people who made the 2009 SEMA Show so special for Autogeek.net and deserve thanks:

Max for everything that he did to make this a great show for Autogeek

Jason for his hands on leadership during the show

Mike Phillips for taking hundreds of photos for you guys and always remembering to bring me back some cool autographed posters and even one poster that I want to set on fire

Anthony aka OCDetails also aka Jngrbdman aka honorary Autogeek staff member for being there the entire week to help us out

Doug and Chris from Grit Guard who were also there with us the entire week

Steve aka Poorboy and also Ronkh for being there to talk about Poorboy's World products

On Tuesday:

Bob Eichelberg from Flex for demonstrated the Flex polishers

JJ from Finish Kare displayed the Finish Kare line and was giving away samples of 425 Detal Spray!

Eric Dunn discussed the variety of foam and wool pads from Lake Country Manufacturing

On Wednesday:

Richard Griot joined us to talk about the Griot's Garage line of car care products and orbital polishers

Dan from Meguiars brought over the new Meguiars G110 V2 (Version 2) polisher so we could get our hands on it and learn more

Rick Goldstein from Raggtopp spent some time discussing proper convertible top care

On Thursday:

Forest from Mothers revealed the new Mothers Powerball 4 Headlights and the Mothers Headlight Restoration Kit

David from Optimum Polymer Technologies was there to discuss Optimum products and especially proper technique for Optimum No Rinse

Doug and Chris Lamb from Grit Guard too center stage to show the benfits of the Universal Pad Washer. Using video on his iPhone was really helpful to see how well the Pad Washer works.

What a great week it was and the dinner parties at night were phenomenal.

Here are links to all of the photo threads so that you can experience the 2009 SEMA Show too, minus the sore feet from all the walking. It's the next best thing to being there!

What a great recap Dwayne!, it literally was a Who's Who in the car car industry all meeting and hanging out at the Autogeek's SEMA booth.

As for the posters,

I'll bring them into work tomorrow and you can do with them as you will.

There was definitely a marked lack of models at the show this year. Last year every other booth had a half dressed girl leaning on the cars signing posters, but this year I hardly saw any. That is fine for me because the girls got in the way of the cars most of the time. I'm already married to the perfect woman, so all that is left for me to drool over are the cars. :) hopefully she reads that and believes that I wasn't drooling over girls all week... ;)

I think we needed to see more pictures of beautiful girls. It doesn't matter what they are doing. No demonstrations required. Pictures of beautiful girls and shiney cars are the best.

Thank you for bringing SEMA to those of us who couldn't go!

It was almost like we were there, great photos, great information!

I think we pretty much took pictures of every model at SEMA. There must have been an increase in the skin tax or something since last year, because there just weren't that many girls around this year. It is sad to say, but the hottest women in attendance were actually just normal buyers and attendees. Hopefully things turn around for next year.

Here are my thoughts on the models, or lack thereof. No doubt they are nice to look at (and I think I may have been caught with a few myself). The models can certainly attract a crowd to a booth and not necessarily the crowd a business may be looking to meet at a trade show when the focus is on business growth.

I remember quite a few models from previous years but have no idea what products they were representing. On the other hand, there are products that I do remember well that had a fully clothed, educated representative that was there to promote a product or service. Of course I'm not saying that models cannot also be educated, but many people do lose site of that when the focus is on beauty and not on brains.

With the lack of models this year, I think the focus was on building business. As the country moves from recession to recovery, companies may tend to cater to the crowds and hire more models. Maybe that will be a sign of better economic times? If so, bring back the models!

New products from Mothers, Meguiars, Lexol and some more goodies will be coming soon, in time for Christmas. Of course forum members will be the first to see them.
