is it just me or does that flex (the one with the blue foam pad) look different than the 3401 that is sold right now (the one below). it looks a little longer from the bottom or just doesn't have the black plastic housing over it?...

It appears to have a small backing plate in addition to having a side handle. Yes, the black cover is missing.

You can buy the side handle from AG. The cover might just come off. Here's even a different picture.
