I wet sanded with Meguiar's unigrit 2500 and 3000, and then buffed with the Flex 3401 and the Kompressor pads with System One polish. I first used the purple pad for the really rough areas, and then the orange pad in the colorsanded areas. I then used the white pad, as I used the white pad on the entire car, and then the black pad, and finally the gold jeweling pad. I then applied 5 coats of Pinnacle Souveran, one coat every 11 or 12 hours, and then buffed the wax with the Shamrock towels. I applied Meguiar's #40 to the rubber trim. I applied Griot's garage paint sealant to the rear bumper about 4 or 5 moths ago, over which two coats of Souveran were applied.

That's a great looking car, and an interesting paint scheme?

Thumbnails are okay but it's not that hard to upload your pictures to your gallery here on the AGO forum and then "insert" them into your thread. This makes reading a thread so much more enjoyable.

For example, I uploaded one of your photos into your gallery here on the forum and inserted it below...

Thanks, Mike. I was in a hurry, and I don't know how to load pics.
This is my Father's car, and he chose the paint scheme, to look like Smokey Yunick's race cars from the 50's through the 60's. There is a Smokey Yunick garage bumper sticker on the back bumper. Not what I would have done, but..
I DO like the black and gold scheme a lot, although I would prefer a golder gold than this 1969 Volvo color that another body man who does restorations used on another vintage race car, John Briggs, used to do a Camaro.
My father took these pictures, some of which were taken at The Fabulous Fifties car show, last Sunday. I want to take some proper pics of it, more close up. The pics don't do it justice. There are zero swirls on the car, and the black is really rich and has crisp reflections after the 3000 sanding to remove the orange peel. However, there are a few scratches here and there. Colorsanding was a last minute thing, as my father decided that certain parts of the car looked so nice after I polished them that he wanted those bad areas fixed. The problem was orange peel, of course, so in 4 days I color sanded the hood, passenger door and fender, and part of the passengers rear quarter. This was AFTER I already buffed it. So I buffed it twice. Sanding was an after thought. Initially when I asked him about it months ago, he said it wasn't needed and wasn't really sure about it. Well, since it's HIS paint, I didn't do it back 6 months ago.

Ill try to redo those pics later.

Ok, I redid the pics. Much better! I need to take pics of the interior, too, since it too, is the black and gold color scheme. I really think it is very nice.
