Okay, so we've been busy the last week or two, but haven't been good about taking pictures. Today though, John and I were asked to correct the paint on a Grey 2004 Ford Mustang Mach I. This is the SECOND Mach I we've corrected for Bavarian Trade. The first one was white and SUPERCHARGED! Though this particular Mach I was stock, and came with lots of swirls and scratches, we were pretty impressed with the outcome. So without further ado, ON TO THE PROCESS AND PICS!!!

Process:

- Wash via ONR, dried with Absorber (Yes, we're trying to go green and ONR ROCKS!!)
- Corrected with M95 on LC Hydro-tech Tangerine (On Griot's DA) and Cyan (On Flex DA) then followed up with M82 on Hydro-tech Orange pads via Griot's and Flex DA.
- Headlights were fixed with an expensive little number John purchased as a kit, he'll pop in and fill in the name.
- LSP was Wolfgang High Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0.
- Wheels, tires and wheel-wells were cleaned with a light degreaser/car shampoo/aluminum brightner mixture and aggitated with various brushes.
- Tires were dressed with Meg's Endurance Tire Gel (Best stuff in the WORLD afaic.)

Okay, so this car was NOT easy...we had issues removing both the M95 and M82 and certain painted plastic pieces just were NOT allowing us to remove the products we were using to correct the paint. We eventually found that the M82 on the Flex would allow us to correct and remove the product, but since my rotary was in my broken down car...we couldn't fully test to see if we could get better results outside of the DAs we both use.

BEFORES:

First pics (LOTS) are of the swirls and scratches in the paint. Some of the scratches we COULD NOT remove. They were just too deep.

So yeah, the paint was VERY swirled everywhere, though not in bad shape overall, just hard to work with.

The decal was pretty badly scratched up, but M82 on LC Hydro-tech Tangerine did a pretty good job of cleaning them up and restoring a bit of the murky darkness in the afters.

Both headlights had AIDS, but this one was the "good" one...

Roof, badly swirled.

These trunklid scratche didn't come fully out as they were all very deep and past a point where the DAs could correct them.
http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk116/adrock2003/2004%20Grey%20Ford%20Mustang%20Mach%20I/DSCF3065.jpg

The next photo is the ledge on top of the rear bumper where the trunklid opens. Most of the defects came out but the deepest scratches were just too much to completely remove.

I can't explain how much I hated these fake brake cooling cowls...they were a NIGHTMARE to correct and what frustrated us the most as anything we did to them would not allow us to remove the product residues completely.

SOOOOO, you get a better idea of the results here, starting with removing the AIDS in the headlights. Forgive my poor photo-taking techniques...

Passenger's side still has issues...buuuuuut, you'll have to wait to see afters of the passenger's side light...forgot to take pics as we were trying to finish wiping down door, hood, trunk jams and any residue we had left.

The first actual AFTER photo! Forgive the craptastic lighting as the sun was going down...damn these short Virginia winter days.

Okay, the owner of this lot hires REAL detailers for his cars. Everything else done to the vehicles is handled with a VERY high level of quality and commitment. They carry the best luxury used cars in the entire region as far as I'm concerned. If you're interested in ANY of the cars I post, contact Chris Pfieffer or Jerry Williams for information (The contact number is in the picture and please remember to ask SPECIFICALLY for either of the above gentleman, they handle all internet sales! ;) ).

nice. We had to replace the headlights on our 01 Mustang GT b/c they got so bad. On the inside too.

Yikes! That sucks! I try to polish out as many as I can. Sometimes I have to sand pretty deep to get back down to good plastic, but I usually get far enough that they come clear again.

Thanks for looking Iceman. :D

yah, i need to really hit em with the 500 grit hard and see if that helps em. i still have layin around to mess with. I liked the factory ones, like on this Mach, b/c they have a light smoke to em.

I wouldn't go as hard as 500 grit. lol The hardest i would go it MAYBE 800, but so far, 1000 is the grittiest I can get myself to go. I do like the headlights on the Machs though. ;)
