Hi all,

Here are some pictures of my project. It's a new 2010 Honda Pilot. this thing has plastic trim everywhere. So I start taping off......3 hrs later I'm at this (see pictures). So,
#1 Any tips are appreciated!
#2 Am I as Mike calls it way to "DO" detail oriented? Did I go overboard or is this what I should have done. It's clayed and washed ready to polish.
Going to go with Menzerna intensive polish PO91E then step to Final polish PO85U. Might give it a final with PB Black Hole but I'm not sure on that. Of course I will do a test spot to see what pad polish combo I need.
Then the LSP plan is for Zaino Z5 or Finish Kare 2180, either one will be topped DP Max Wax and a final wipe with Finish Kare 425.

Last Question, Does anyone know if it's OK to polish over the backup sensors?

Any suggestions? Does it look OK?

Thanks in advance, ~~ Yale.

Wow that looks like a great job. This is so weird I just got off of a search for info on taping prior to polishing and I come upon your post under todays posts. I came across two videos that might be of help to you. Good luck

Oh buy the way why would you be wanting to use the PB Blackhole if you are polishing the car? That is a filler/glaze used to hide the paint swirls that a person is not willing to correct via polishing. That just seems like a waste of time and product.

You dont have to tape up everything just the edges around it would be fine. Like in the back you dont have to fill in the areas that you did with tape but just outline it so you dont hit it. I dont even tape up anymore because to me it just takes too much time and I just avoid getting close to the vinyl and rubber areas. Pretty sure you can polish over them but I would not just because I hate getting polish out of the space between the sensor and the bumper.

Cant wait to see finished pics!

Oh yeah I would not use PB glaze if you are going to use a sealant after as it will not bond to the oils in the glaze. Only use it if you are going to use a nuba.

You know that's what I was thinking at about hr 2 LOL. But I thought well what about splatter from the spinning pad...I don't want to spend 8 hrs cleaning the polish off the plastic. (will IPA clean the polish splatter off the trim?) I wasn't sure about the sensors so they are taped this time. I'm sure I will get more confident and do a lot less in the future....I hope!

Hum..Now I'm confused because I have read that PB BH is a water based product (that's why I bought it) and I have read that the sealants work great over it, time for more research! The reason I was thinking of using it was to get that last little pop before LSP. I "thought" it would be like using Wolfgang paintwork polish, their descriptions are very similar.

So what is a good final polish to use for the Jeweled look for use with a PC (Griot's)? Something like the Ultrafina that people use with a rotary?

This is what killrwheels said about PB black hole in another thread "its a great product and compatible with sealants and waxes alike."
here.. http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/product-reviews/19914-poorboys-black-hole-glaze-review.html

Guess I need to think twice about using BH, maybe I will just do a final machine clean and polish with some Z AIO I have...?

Thanks for your help I really appreciate it:dblthumb2:

I think PB can not be used under a sealant, maybe I need to research it a bit more, haha.

IPA will help take polish out of plastic. But, you are right once you get better you wont get much if any splatter and you will not need to tape up everything.

"So what is a good final polish to use for the Jeweled look for use with a PC (Griot's)? Something like the Ultrafina that people use with a rotary?" Finish down with 85rd or 87mc on a blue pad. Ultrafina is for rotary use.
