And the 5" backer plate busted on me... ?????? My 02 mustang gt, which i put 30 hours on the past 2 weekends. Finishing up (LUCKILY) the last section with the Menzerna Nano Finishing Polish, starting to stop spinning. im like ###, so i put a new pad on to see if it was the pad, and when i started with the new pad, yellow pieces were flying everywhere. I thought it was the paint at first (its yellow), but then realized it was the foam on the inside of the backer plate.

Are there any heavy duty backer plates, lol..

Which polisher and which brand backing plate were you using?

We do have a heavy duty DA backing plate (http://www.autogeek.net/damvp5.html).

had my dad send me a pic of the parts, since i had the buffer at there place.

Hmmm. i just ordered a spare back plate(non HD). I wish I had seen this heavy duty ahead of time.

ihad this happen to me mulitple times.. I talked to Meghan and she suggested the HD.. I havent had a problem since...

Dwayne, you are the man!! Customer Service is #1 at AG!!! Thanks a lot for the help and QUICK responses! Definitely be sticking with you guys for everything for my detailing!!!

the first thing you notice on the HD backing plate picture are the 3 screws!! i was debating on screwing mine together... i may do it and see how it holds.

If i wouldve known about the ehavy duty backing plate, i wouldve gotten it from the start just b/c its the heavy duty version, lol. So if anyone is debating, it will be well worth the few extra bucks to go to the Heavy Duty Pad!!!
