Keeping dirty/clean towels separated (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-101/20471-keeping-dirty-clean-towels-separated.html)

Hey guys, what do you use, when out on a job, to keep your clean and dirty mf/terry towels separated? I mobile detail out of a VERY small car (have to remove the passenger seat to fit everything) and I have a lot of trouble figuring out how to keep the towels separate when at the job itself. Do you use a laundry bag or a folding hamper?

Thanks!

James

I use a trash bag to hold the dirty towels until they get washed.

I use a trash bag to hold the dirty towels until they get washed.

That's what I've usually done, take a long a few plastic trash bags with the plastic pull-string closures and place your used polishing cloths in these to safe room.

When I had my 1974 260Z for a daily driver, space was very limited for detailing supplies. Once you throw a container of chemicals, a container with buffing pads, in the back there's not much room left for any more containers of any size plus I still had to load up my different buffers, extension cords, etc.

A plastic bag with either clean microfiber or dirty microfibers will be flexible so you can stuff it just about anywhere, the important thing is to keep the clean cloths clean and keep the dirty ones from getting any extra dirt on them before they go into the laundry.

Purchase two rubbermaid storage containers. The big ones. You can get two of them at Wal-Mart for $20. Get different colors or clear ones. Use one to hold your clean ones and throw the dirty ones in the other. Geat for storage and transport.

I prefer the clears ones so I can see which one is which. Don't throw a dirty towel into the ones with folded towels in it.;)

I prefer the taller ones since they hold more and I have plenty of room for them when transporting. They have many different sizes. They have flatter ones if transportation space is limited.

I have pick up a couple bags that Home Depot they sell to put your stuff @ the store they orange they lock @ the top with elasticand plastic top they are large enough to hold about 30 mf depending on size I have 2 for clean one interior/exterior then 2 for dirty mf ,they cost .99 I think. I us to carry them in tubes but the capture them for our last vaction haven't seen them since but I like the bags better they take up less room in my tube. LOL

zip locks might work in a pinch too ... or reuse those plastic baggies they give out at the grocery store.

I keep a small bag of clean MF Towels under the seat for
dusting or QD'ing while out. It works great when space is limited. Keep a few garbage bags in the glove box for any that get used and for collecting dirty ones when I detail away from home. :props:

Nice 260Z. I loved driving those Z's.

Plastic/garbage bags are great as they adjust to the size of the items you are carrying with you.

Try folding your dirty micro-fibers up after they have been used. Folding them will help take up less space than just crumpling them and tossing them straight into the "dirty towels" container.
