(Sorry for the late reply)

What are you working on?

You can do it either way and you should be doing it with an air powered DA Sander, not a PC ELECTRIC polisher as the orbit is to large for finish sanding.

I prefer to use water because this prevents paint dust from becoming air-borne and getting on everything and also it prevents you from breathing it in.

I don't care much for wearing dust masks while sweating at a job, so I would pick wet-sanding any day. It's also less aggressive in my opinion as you have a water/soap solution for lubrication.

I have a couple of friends that prefer dry sanding for their own reasons, so kind of personal preference. We're going to teach both wet-sanding techniques and dry sanding techniques here at AG but personal preference is wet-sanding even though it is very messy.

I can get just as D.O. as anyone, for example separating out your sanding discs and using grit guards in the bottom of all your buckets.

This and the Titanic are the funnest wet-sanding projects I've ever tackled. The Titanic was done completely by hand and except for a few places like the teeth where the curve is in the door panel, most of the Joker Truck was all done by machine.
