What does everyone use for applying their tire gel? I used to spend $3 or $4 on one of those stupid applicators that would only last a month or so before falling apart but need something else.

I wonder if you can just buy a large sheet of that gray foam at Lowe's or Home Depot.

Thoughts?

I've used the pinn foam applicators (the small ones) but my hands kill me when Im done and its gets real messy.... I have the thicker foam applicator but havent used it yet.... Im guessing it should be better
I've also recently purchased the applicator that has its own casing (kinda looks like a small school eraser) but havent tried it..

I have tried the applicator that comes with the AA tire gel and while my hands didnt hurt as much and I stayed relatively clean, it was a tad of a pain to apply....

I would have to agree though.. there has to be a better way!!!!
Once Im out of the WG and AA, maybe I'll try the PB's spray next.....

For Gel I just use latex gloves and a yellow sponge. You can pick up yellow sponges for about a dollar a bag and then just toss them when finished.

I was at Lowe's and I saw a Dish Soap dispenser where you are supposed to put Dawn or something in the piece that you hold in your hand. It has a small rubber button on it that you can press and then the soap is supposed to go into the actual scrubber thingie.

It's probably a bit harsch for tires, but something like that would work well.

Does anyone know where to buy a big piece of that gray foam?

Advanced Auto has 4 for 2.99. Curved too. Eagle Ones I believe.

terry cloth round applicators ... cheap so they can be replaced every couple of months. Use an old wax lid to hold it when not being used.

I've been using the EO tire swipes for years. Frankly, I think their quality has fallen quite a bit recently and they seem to get messy much quicker than before.

I ordered a couple of items from Autogeek to try out, because I want to replace my EO tire swipes.

I purchased a DP wheel kit that included two foam applicators. I think they are these:

They work great and have held up well. I just used the second one for the first time this weekend and I really did not need to becuase the other one still works fine.

I have two pinn green mf app pads that I use, I don't clean them, I just let gel keep soaking in, it seems to help spread easier, I keep them in a pastic container.

These work well. I've used one for a couple of months now(probably 100+ applications and it's just now starting to come apart a little. I was probably too agressive when applying gels initially, so you could probably get even more out of them than that. Terry cloth applicators will probably last the longest.
