Pad Question

I know there are foam pads and wool pads. What is the difference in function? Do some detailers use wool instead of foam or do wool pads serve one purpose and foam pads a totally different purpose?

Wool pads provide more cut and level the paint better than foam. I will use a wool pad if anything more than an orange pad is needed. Foam pads have different cuts from aggressive to finishing. When it comes down to a more aggressive cut it seems to come down to preference. Then the lighter cut foam pads can be used for minor defects and then you have the finishing pads for your last step. You will want to finish with a foam finishing pad so not to induce or remove buffer marks or holograms or marring from the more aggressive pads.
