My favorite non-detailing detailing tool is...

Just an idea for a new topic to help share some good ideas that might be out there.

For instance, I like to use old hotel keys (electronic card type) to help clean in the crevices of the vehicle interior. Wrap a wipe or cloth around the corner of the card and go to work in the crevices. Rotate the cloth often.


Again, I thought this might be a good topic to help share some useful detailing tidbits that make the job easier. Contribute or flame away...

A 3'' paint brush, great for dusting vents and cleaning wax dust off rubber door seals.

I use some brush used for cleaning the bathrooms in my fenderwells. Its a skinny brush so it fits in good on my lowered car where the big brushes dont fit

Oooh, good idea with the used hotel keys. I accumulate many many many 100's of those a year (I work part time at a hotel while at college haha).


I can't think of any non-detailing detailing tools at the moment but I know that I have a few that I love!!!

my wife .... in a pinch she can easily recite all the steps of car care and easily remember how to do it. Unfortunately she doesnt like car care and often told me when I go she will drive dirty forever !! (smiles)

Those hand-pump garden sprayer things that are in half-gallon jugs. Don't use it often, but nice for an even distribution of some APC or something.

Poly-foam brush thingies on a stick. Can help apply P21S Gel in certain areas that are hard to reach/spray.

A tie hanger, easy way to hang dry 24 small MF's.

+1 for hotel key card (I use my credit card though) and garden sprayer.

AHH! I knew I'd remember something...

I like to use the 100% Cotton round make up removers for applying 303 dressing.

They're cheap and available at the supermarket and when you're done with them you can throw them away (they come in a pack of 80). They're only about 3 inchs in diameter.

Those extra long q-tips on a stick (like in the Dr's office).

Rubber gloves for putting on tire shine.

My homemade toilet scrubber wheel brush. Guaranteed to not scratch toilets and wheels seem ok with the one time I tried it. I did use it to clean my bathtub too and it kicks some serious butt!
