View Full Version : Lake Pads - Is there a Difference Between CCS & Hi-Gloss CCS?

Was looking at several sites and happended upon a Lake Pad type labeled CCS "Hi-Gloss" in 6.5" diameter at a vendor site (and uses a 6" backing plate; I assume that it isn't meant to be used with a 5" backing plate). Has different edges and what looks like a backing across the entire pad itself. But, colors & the crater-like appearance of the correction surface seem the same as the Lake CCS I've seen everywhere else (including the Lake site).

Wanted to know if anyone has experience with this pad-type & the Lake CCS's and what they found.http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:forums.corvetteforum.com/get/images/smilies/confused5.gif

Just curious.............the choices are infinite when it comes to pads & product!! Ugh.

Thx.

Did they mention it as like a "Hi-gloss" line or was it just one pad like the black pad?? i've seen that before.

is it possible to get a picture off the site?

They are the pads that have a stiffer foam on the back of the polishing foam to give it a little more stiffness and get better contact patch between the pad surface and paint surface. It helps take away any pressure difference because the polisher is not perfectly parallel to the paint surface so the secondary pad compensates so that the pressure across the polishing surface is even and do not have "hot" spots.

Back & edges are different, but the dimpled surface is about the same as normal CCS. http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:forums.corvetteforum.com/get/images/smilies/willy_nilly.gif

Looks to maybe be a spin on CCS pads for some odd purpose. As far as I am concerned, the polishing side is orange, so I wouldnt imagine that it have any different cut than a regular CCS Orange Pad.

The theory is the blue part evens out the pressure but from my use I think the blue would only be practically effective on soft pads (black, blue, etc) since orange and white pads are fairly stiff.

Just get the regular ccs pads, there are no difference in the two. It's all about the marketing.
