Hey everybody, Im new to this forum but not completely new to detailing. Ive always done washing and waxing and the occasional clay but thats as far as ive taken it. Always used meguiars products because of the availablity. I thought Id try some of these other brands that been hearing raves about which led me to here.

Im interested in purchasing a combo porter cable kit and seem to lean towards wolfgang and pinnacle products. Any suggestions? I will be using it on a graphite color Lexus IS350.

Cheers,
Jason

Im going to go through some of my favorite products that I might use on a colored car like yours:

Clay: Your clay of choice.
Wax: For your metallic colored IS, I really recommend:

Polishing:
For any beginner, you have two options:
1) The Porter Cable 7424XP and the FLEX DA Polisher. Both are good options, here are some differences:
-The FLEX is more powerful with its forced rotation dual action movement and has a stronger motor than the pc
-They are both extremely reliable
-Is the cost worth it? If you are just polishing your car and maybe some friends, consider this factor. If its just your vehicle, the PC may be a better option.
-Both tools are capable of paint correction albeit the FLEX a little more so.

Now for polishes, lately all the rave has been the Menzerna Series or Meguiars Twins: #105/#205.

Menzerna polishes use advanced nano abrasives and are designed for fast flawless correction on OEM assembly lines. They are wonderful products and leave a finish with a distinctive look. There is just something about the way the polishes finish down that looks nice!

I am going to recommend this kit:
WOlfgang porter Cable 7424 Swirl Free Kit: Wolfgang Porter Cable 7424 Swirl-Free Kit (http://www.autogeek.net/wolfgang-porter-cable-swirl-remover.html)

It comes with the porter cable polisher, a polishing, cutting, and finishing pad. This allows different levels of cut depending on what you need. It also comes with the deep gloss paint sealant. It provides a great looking and durable layer of protection to put a coat of wax on top of if you wish. WG Total Swirl Remover is also a partnership with Menzerna :)

I hope this helps.

ryandamartini-

Wow thanks for the helpful advice. It definately helped clear up some choices for me and gave me some direction. I think Im set on the Wolfgang Porter Cable 7424 Swirl-Free Kit it seems like a great deal. Everyone seems to praise the DPGS 3.0. My question though is this kit primarily for applications with older paint that has heavy swirling. My car paint is about two yrs old with minimal swirl. Also, the total swirl remover states best on ceramic clear coats. Is this okay for my application and do all modern cars have ceramic clear coats?

Thanks again for the help!
