I have been looking for some products that I can use on my black Harley Street Glide. I've been using a PC for a few years on my truck and car with great results but the motorcycle is a different story. I heard that Harley uses really soft clear coat. I always wash and dry it correctly but I still get light swirl marks all over. I tried using the PC with a 4" white pad and XMT#1 but it left very faint buffer marks. Although the swirls were gone I could now see very (I had to look real close) small circular marks.

At first I thought the pad was a little dirty so I used a new one...same thing. Should I try a less aggressive polish or a less aggressive pad? I know that most polishes and waxes (the good ones) dont that fillers. I would be willing to try a wax with fillers to get rid of these swirls. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.

I would try XMT #1 with a very soft finishing pad (red or blue). If that doesn't leave a good finish, I'd step it up to something better like Menzerna PO85RD or 3M Ultrafina.

What speed are you using the PC on? I'd be using it on 5-6 with minimal pressure.

I'll try that. I'm using the PC a 4.5-5. I tried it at higher speeds but the finish was horrible.

Thanks for the help guys. I got some 3M Ultrafina this weekend and tried it out. I used the PC with the blue pad and it worked great. Here are the results

Looks like it turned out good for you !!!

I used the 4" Spot Buff on my Makita drill for my Road Glide with Poorboys SSR 2 with White pad then SSR 1 with White then SSR 1 With Gray pad then Poorboys Proffesional Polish with Blue Pad. Top with Wolfgang DGPS and a little Fuzion for good measure. The spot buff is excellant because you can get to a lot of places with the small pad and drill.

This is what I get :
