I was one of the lucky fathers who won a Sarge knife from Autogeek. First, let me say thanks to AG for always doing giveaways. Let me just say that I am a knife enthusiast. I have been collecting pocket knifes of all sorts since I was a youngster. I probably have somewhere in the neighborhood of 200-300 pocket knives, from the very cheap to the very expensive. Yeah, I'm a a nerd about more than just detailing. http://www.detailcity.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif Next, a few quick thoughts about the knife...

I got it in the mail yesterday afternoon (2 day shipping on a completely free item http://www.detailcity.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif) and proceeded to open that badboy up. Initially, I was impressed with the feel and build of the knife. It looks heavy duty, but it is actually pretty lightweight feeling to the hand and pocket. I then tested out the sharpness of the blade. I was pretty impressed by how honed it was out of the box, but I still felt like I could put a little more of a razor edge on it. http://www.detailcity.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif I hit it a few times on an old Case Moon Stone (ceramic cake sharpener) and then stropped it a couple of times on my strop with some rouge. It is now sharper than my mach 3 razor blade. http://www.detailcity.org/forums/images/smilies/wow.gif I will be interested in how well it can hold this edge, and I plan to carry it for a while and put it through the test.

For specs on the knife, I figured I'd post a link to the "same" knife on the Sarge website. SK-80BLN (http://sargeknives.com/cart/edit.asp?p=117944)

Of course, this knife is a little unique - it will match my Flex. http://www.detailcity.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Thanks again Autogeek!http://www.detailcity.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gifhttp://www.detailcity.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gifhttp://www.detailcity.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

Cool, me too.

Thanks for the review. I'm here at work and the link is blocked for me. What kind of steel is the blade?

Funny how blade steel is kinda like clearcoat in that soft is kind of a pain but easy to correct vs. hard stays swirl-free/sharp longer but is difficult to correct. Definitely both have their pros and cons.

440 Stainless steel. The handles are aluminum. I've got some other clip type knives (I want to say older Cold Steel and/or Benchmades) that have the same blade composition.
