I ran a search on “soft water”, but to no avail, so……….. We have a complete soft water setup in our home, but regardless of that I still wash my cars in the shade in the early AM away from the sun and I dry them with an electric leaf blower while blowing the water downward toward the ground. Now, most car washes have the R/O (reverse osmosis) setups to prevent hard water spots. Has anyone noticed any real difference in the soft water vs. regular water after washing? I’m sure the same principles apply to your skin as it would on our expensive paint jobs, correct? I live in Albuquerque NM and soft water systems are almost a must have, especially in the winters.

Yes, soft water spots less and the spots are less severe, especially in the sun.

A little off-topic, but related to shade or lack thereof.

Do you have a garage?
If you do, using a rinseless wash product might work for you.
I do rinseless washes in my garage year round.
For the warmth in the winter and for the shade during the rest of the year.

DP Rinseless Wash & Gloss, no rinse car wash, concentrated no rinse wash, quick detail spray, waterless wash (http://www.autogeek.net/dp-rinseless-four-in-one.html)
And here's another.
Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine 128 oz. (http://www.autogeek.net/opnoriwash12.html)

And here's a tutorial.

FWIW, I personally think ONR and DP both work great as a rinseless wash.

I have a R/O system in my home,I fill my tank with it also. Even in the sun, there are no water spots. I do dry rather quickly with a micro fiber drying towel. I'm sure the soft water has helped in washing. It's the same system the goes on all the space shuttles.NASA approved!
