2000 grit wetsand on clearcoat. What packing plate and foam pad should I buy. I am using XMT #4.

Honestly i have the same buffer, it is a great tool. I started with all wool pads on a 7" backing plate, then just recently bought a 6" backing plate so that i could use my 6.5" foam pads that i bought for my PC, either will work great, i like the 6" better though, that's just me though.

Good luck,

Do you have a link for the 6" backing plate, I have bought so many useless backing plates for this thing I want to make sure I get the right one.

thanks in advance

Rotary Flexible Backing Plate, lake country rotary backing plates, makita 9227 backing plate, dewalt 849 backing plate, circular backing plate (http://www.autogeek.net/lc43175.html)

Really for wetsand marks, I guess use your favorite compound and follow up with your favorite finishing polish. I did recently watch some Meguiars Classes on youtube and the 105/205 combo with wool pads put forth some serious results.

Why not finish with 3000, less buffing.

Good call on the higher grit.
