This is probably a stupid question, but thought I would ask if anyone knows for sure. I have a Griots random polisher(it is a rebranded PC with a different backing plate.) Griots backing plate uses the hook and loop(Velcro) fastening system, so I should be able to use other brand pads that use this same system, right?

Thanks

You can use any pad as long as you have the correct size. I think for Griots its 6 inches, so any 6" pad will work fine! Edge are the only pads that do not have a hook and loop backing that I know of.

if you have a 6" backing plate(?) then i wouldnt be using 6" pads....the backing plate will be too close to the edge of the pad for comfort....

6.5" Pad will be fine with that polisher

The backing plate is not 6" on Griots polisher, it is a tad over 5.5" . All of Griots pads are 6". I was thinking of the 6.5 CSS for my Griot's polisher.

Thanks for the responses.

I use 6" and 6.5" LC pads on my Griot's unit. It's nice to have other pads in the arsenal.

I also just got one of their 3" orbitals. Slick little unit! Many many uses.

is the griots machines backing plate fixed or is it removable.....i would opt for a smaller backing plate and 5.5" pads.....

Unfortunately it is fixed. Or at least I haven't found how to take it off yet.

Actually on the model you have it is not an option to interchange with our smaller backing plates... BUT when Griots redid their polisher they did away with that backing plate and went with the same thread as Porter Cable. So now the new Griots which is coming to us next week, it will have the option of using everything the PC uses.

Thats good news because they really do have a good handle on their polisher.

i dont use the handles anyway, as i assume most dont....but a fixed backing plate would make the machine a no no over others.....sory griots like everything else they offer, over priced and comes up short to other products....
