Does anyone know if a smaller backing plate can be attached to the 3M adapter?

Does the 3M adapter have a 5/8 inch diameter shaft?

I was looking at the 4 3/4" or the 3 3/4 " backing plates.

LC-43-095 3 ¾ inch Rotary Backing Plate

LC-43-125WH Rotary 4 ¾ inch Flexible Backing Plate

Thanks.

After installing the 3M Edge adapter, you no longer need any backing plate. You use all the Edge pads which are dual sided and snap into place. Any of the PC pads will work fine and the smaller Cyclo ones too.

Thanks for the Reply.

I just purchased my Flex 3401 and the 3M adapter.
I know it is for the Edge pads, but I see that it is threaded under the adapter and was wondering if a rotary backing plate would fit?

That way I could also use smaller Lake county buffing pads on my Flex.

I didn't know if anyone has tried to see if this was possiable, as I don't have a rotary and did not want to purchase something I could not use.

The backing plate included with the Flex is unique .. to my knowledge no other backing plate exists currently. (besides the Edge of course)
