So to start off this review I will write a little bit about the product, the process I used, and the condition of each car that the Griots Engine Cleaner was used on.
Griot's Engine Cleaner:
states on the bottle can be used on cold or warm engine ( should not be hot), the undercarriage, wheel wells and surrounding compartments.
Having used a few engine cleaners before, I was expecting a harsh chemical product. Griots Engine Cleaner is NOT harsh at all, yet cleans very well.
ease of use:
simple and very good, just spray.
smell:
this has virtually no smell to it. I practically inhaled the bottle and could barely make out a scent, not harsh on the nose.
cleaning ability:
4.5 out of a 5 star rating. I fully tested it on some major grime. it did a very good job at cleaning light/moderate/heavy grease/dirt with little effort. The absolute heavy grease/dirt, needed a second application, and with the white car below, some spots probably a third.
process:
I followed the label, sprayed the engine cleaner on and around the dirty areas and allowed it to stand for a few minutes.
I then agitated the soiled areas with a brush.
After that was done I rinsed off the area.
The cars:
the first car up is my 2000 pontiac trans am, it is a weekend driver, sees dirt roads ( I live on a dirt road). and is garage kept. I rate the dirtiness of the engine compartment a 2.5 of 5.
The second car is my 2004 Jeep grand cherokee, it is a daily driver, it goes offroading, sees mud, snow etc. dirtiness rating: 3 of 5
the third car is a 1992 camaro, it is hardly driven and the engine compartment has never been cleaned as far as I know lol. Dirtiness rating: 4 out of 5, and some spots 5 of 5.
