Hey guys, I am new to detailing and just do it for fun. Griots is my weapon of choice. My buddy asked me to see if I could save his car. I just did a quick work up on it to see what I could do. I am going to do a FULL detail very soon before our toyota meet here in June.

Here are the pics I took of the before and after!
Half of the hood after Griots Clay Bar

Shows how oxidized it was

ALL DONE still has some hazing and needs best of show wax but not bad for a beginner!

What would you all recommend? I know its just a start but there are some deep scratches in the hood that I couldnt pull out. I used an orange pad with MP2 but couldnt get it to come out!

Can you feel the scratches with your finger nail? What's MP2?

MP2 is Griots Machine Polish 2 then went to Machine Polish 3 and a quck coat of sealer. Ya the scratches are pretty deep and you can feel them with your nail.

Unless you feel comfortable with wet sanding i would leave them alone.

Looks like wet sanding might be your only option. There are a lot of vids out there and it's easier than it seems. Practice on a test panel.

may have to try a quick wetsand. I am using a Griots 6" Random Orbital Polisher.

I would use a rotary before wet sanding.

If there are deep scratches I would fill them with glaze before I would try to polish them out and thus make the paint thinner in the process, which of course would compromise long term durability. I've seen pics with excellent results on a red car using Poorboys Black Hole Glaze. I like the Griot's clay, and Speed Shine, among other Griots products, but their Best of Show Wax was very disappointing to me. It is really stringy wet and extremely difficult to remove once dried. The appearance it leaves behind is rich, but it lacks pop. I recommend Natty's Red paste wax at the same price point. It TOTALLY blows Best of Show away. It is easy to apply and remove, and you can't buy a better looking wax for the money. Natty's Red has a rich wet shine.
As far as polishing out scratches on a street car, it will most likely get scratched again. Will you polish it again, making it even thinner at that point?

thanks guys, just talked to him last night and going to start a complete detail here very soon! Whats the best thing to bring color back out of plastic panels? The supra has brake duct vents on the side and they are orange. I did the same thing to them but they dont seem to come back as well. Feed back please
