I am currently using Tuff Stuff and it seems to work pretty good but some spots just won't budge! What is a good carpet cleaner for spots and for the whole floor?

Dri Wash n Guard Green has proven to be better than Folex to me. It's a concentrate,16 ounces make 2 gallons of cleaner!

A hint for you for buying it. HD sells it in usually 2 locations within the store. It's sold in a smaller bottle along with all the cleaning stuff. The best deal is the gallon size and it's usually sold where the carpet cleaning machines and supplies are. That's your best bet.

Is Folex meant to be used in a carpet extractor, like the Little Green Machine?

It can be used either way. If you have an extractor, you can use it with that. If not, it's extremely good at spot removal. Vacuum very well, spray on area, agitate, dab with a terry towel or mf and PRESTO! You will love this stuff. Another alternative that I actually bought for myself today (also at HD) is the ZEP line. They make a traffic lane carpet cleaner that is supposed to rock at removing stains. It was recommended to me by a guy who's opinion I highly value. He has turned me onto a few Zep products which are highly effective and very, very reasonably priced. I have the glass cleaner that you can cut 32:1 (that's NOT a misprint) and the citrus degreaser APC which I adore.
