I thought I'd share my wheel cleaning experience with everyone since I usually enjoy viewing the before and after pictures on here.

Process:
Rinse wheels and tires.
Spray with Meguirs hot wheels (over the counter product from kmart)
Scrubed with over the counter wheel brush.

Then I realized I had ordered the P21S gel, so I brought that out and resprayed the wheels with that, I let it sit on the wheels about 15 minutes then scrubed with sponge that comes with the p21s gel.

Clayed with four star clay ( hard to give an accurate opinion because of my limited experience with clay but it wasnt bad)

Sealed with Klasse AIO, and then sealed with zaino Z5 polish

I was experimenting as I went along which is why I have so many steps listed,, next time I will definitely streamline my process.

Now the pics

Before: 2 of the wheels (had already sprayed the meguires hot wheel cleaner)

Nice work! Mercedes Wheels have one of the highest quality finishes on them and i never have problems getting them back to perfect! I would not skip a single step in your process - they all sound essential IMO.

Looks good, how long did it take per wheel?

Wow, they came out fantastic! You just let the P21S Gel do its thing to get the insides of the wheels cleaned so well? Or did you use a brush and scrub back/behind there?

I would say it took me about 1:30 a wheel, I know thats really slow Im sure it can be done quicker. I also brushed the back of the spokes on the wheel so that added to the time it took.

Actually I wasnt that impressed with the p21s gel,, its not a very strong cleaner or anything but you have to like that its safe for your wheels. I first used the wheel brush which has longer bristles to scrub, then I turned the sponge that comes with the p21s gel, and lastly I even used a toothbrush with stiff bristles ( i need to find a bigger brush like this),,I rinsed off the toothbrush frequently because the brake dust/grim would cake on the short small bristles.

Based on my lessons learned I'd say the p21s gel definitely requires elbow grease and a short bristled brush( bigger then a toothbrush unless youre nuts like me) with the sponge will get the job done most of the time

I think the factory OEM pads are often the culprit on MB and BMW. Often you see them darkened with brake dust, but seem to clean up rather easy. Nice work !

thanks,

I forgot to mention when I wrote up the post that my final step was to spray and wipe the wheels with duragloss aquawax for some added shine n a little added protection.

I am not clear....did you remove the wheels? I have a C350 w/ AMG wheels and would love for them to turn out that clean. If you didnt remove them, did you just seal the backs by going between the spokes? I too just tried P21s. Thought it was okay...liked how it stuck to the wheels. But holy cow that stuff is like green gold! I sprayed all 4 wheels and looked down at the bottle and was shocked at how much was gone from the bottle. I saving the rest for a special occasion. Ha!
