I am an avid detailer... Started out on my own rides, people saw my abilities and now I detail about 3 or 4 cars a month. I am now branching off into customization as well. These are pics of my own ride, a 2008 Scion xB. The original color of these pieces was a traditional matte silver. I spruced it up. Lemme know what you guys think.

I wish. It is actually a coating on the OEM pieces.

How durable is the coating ? It looks really good. I guess you are able to do wood grains and such ?

You can have any pattern you could imagine. The top coat is automotive grade acrylic urethane. Very durable.

Cool !!! Should make you a lot of extra cash doing it

I don't actually perform the coating, I sub it out to another company. I just disassemble, prep, ship, and re-install the parts. It is a VERY interesting process. A lot of OEM's use it for faux wood dash pieces.

Yeah I kind figured it would require some decent sized equiptment

It's a really cool process. They print what ever pattern/color you want onto a special water soluble "paper", they then float that in a special water bath, all that's left is the image floating on the water. Then they dip your piece and it picks up the pattern. Just like the old fashioned easter egg dyes. Then they clear coat and polish it.
