Hey guys, I recently picked up a porter cable 7335 (locally). Its labeled as a sander, but as you can see, the specs look close to the 7424. Same OPM's, but it seems the motor is 3.7 as opposed to 4. Any ideas? I can use this correct? Do I have to get a new backing plate for it? I plan on using 5.5" pads. Links to 7335

Hmmm...not 100% sure, but I think you will need a different backing plate. The 5.5" Flexible backing plate is perfect for that:

Yeah I wouldn't see why not. It looks the same as the 7424. That's what I have...the 7424, but perhaps someone else might know a little more information on it. I hope this helps lol.

Haha thanks. The only diff I can see is that this motor is a 3.7 vs the 7424 which is a 4.0. Is it older Can anyone answer for sure?

VWvortex Forums: Porter Cable 7424 or 7336, is it the same machine?? (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?cmd=print&id=1330184)

Maybe that will help?

They mentioned the 7335 a few times...I didn't read it in detail. I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

the difference between the 7335 and 7336 may be the pad size. the 733"5" I assume has the 5" backing plate and the 733"6" has the 6 inch backing plate

Sounds like a type o. I have never heard of a 7335. The difference between the 7424 and the 7336 is the counter weight. Otherwise they are the same machine.

Will I have to purchase a different counter weight?
