This car was a respray about 3 years ago. It had been wet sanded and compounded, but never finished off properly. There was also a lot of deep RIDS and swirls, which appeared to be from a old or dirty buffing pad. In a few areas the paint had shrunk down and needed to be wet sanded as well. The hatch for the top had been repainted and the owner wet sanded that before I arrived.

The owner had also been doing some things that marred and scratched the finish over the years. Upon completion he was given the tools/products needed to maintain the finish and I explained how to use them.

Process:

Clay - Meguiars mild clay and Last Touch
Step 1 - M105 via rotary and Meguiars Solo heavy cutting pad
Step 2 - M105 via rotary and meguiars W7006 pad
Step 3 - M205 via rotary and LC white polishing pad
Step 4 - M205 via rotary and 3M UK finishing pad
LSP - Dodo Juice Supernatural

It was snowing the day I got there so no outdoor before pics...

The owner had some cool stuff in his garage that made for nice reflection shots...

The side pipes kicked up some dust when he pulled it back in...you can see it a little in these pics :(

Reflection of the '66 with a 427 and matching numbers...which I will be doing in the spring. ;)

Car looks great, just out of place with the top down and surrounded by snow

Thanks guys! It was a 24+ hour project...I started getting sick the last day too. :(

It was a lot of fun working on this car, the owner would stop out from time to time and always has a smile on his face. ;)

Can't wait to do the '66 this spring.

Nice correction, the hood and fenders are ugly though. I personally like the 67 the best. He needs one of those since he has the 66 and 68.

Thanks.

I actually like the hood, but would agree on the louvered fenders.

Thanks!

That evil white stuff is the reason I was working at his place and not my own shop. I hate working off site, which is why we are waiting until spring for the '66. ;)

Very nice car, great detail!

Thanks Meghan!

I went back and got some better full sun shots today. A few guys over on Autopia wanted to see the motor too. The owner said this car does not actually have the L88 427 in it...though he does have one sitting in a crate. ;)

Not sure what the difference is between the 427 in the car and the L88, but she still sounds bad a$$!

RaskyR1, only a Detailing God could've pulled off something like that and even as you say, getting sick at the end, WOW! The sun shots really set the car off. How long would you say you've been doing this and...how do you get your business?
