I was asked to wet sand and buff this Mustang. Please keep in mind this is a basic paint job but wanted to show the progress of a wetsanded vehicle, well most of it. I only took a few of pictures of the vehicle wet sanded. I started with 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, and then 3000 grit by hand. The pictures are showing the difference in the compounding stage to the completed finish. The polishing process consisted of compounding with 3M compound, sip, 106ff, and 3M Ultrafina. I just wanted to show the difference in the two finish, from the beginning of compounding to the final polishing. I will continue to update as the polishing goes and the windows and trim are installed and also get all the specs on the car from Hermann of HorsepowerByHermann.

Wow, was it that bad that you started with 500? That's a lot of sanding. I guess that is what good prep means.

looks great man! My father and I repainted my Black '91 GT a couple months ago. Spent alot of time wetsanding that car.

Heres a link to a thread which outlines our whole project, start to finish:

Thanks Ron, In some places 500 was needed, did not do the whole car with 500.

Thanks Josh, it's better than being covered in compound dust.

Thanks redboost10, not sure how well it runs or any times from the track. I believe it is just a driver.

They put the quarter glass in, both side pieces for the cobra kit, the rear bumper cover is painted and waiting to be installed. The front bumper can't be used it is to cracked up, they found this after sanding it down. I will check on it again tomorrow, plus the side mirrors need to be painted.
