I have read some threads where people say there pads were becoming "caked" up. What does this mean?
got too much residue on them. make sure you use the
right pad/bonnet, and change often if necessary

What Img said. Basically after a body panel..for example like your hood, you should probably change pads or wash it( thats not coming from me, i just heard some other guys mention that lol). For me, i dont really like the idea of going from using the pad, to washing it, to using it again. I just figured id buy a whole thing of pads and just to have them on hand when im ready for a clean one.

You can use a spur tool to clean off any excess residue on your pads.
