Anyone watching the annual Barrett-Jackson auction on
Speed Channel--it's an annual ritual for me--hope to make
it there some time. Wow-some of the paint on those cars
will make you drool. Anyway, AG you should have a booth
there--next auction is in Palm Beach in April--let me know
if you need someone to come and assist--I'm serious.

You should have "Speed Channel" on satellite. It is live and
will be on for about two more hours today. Premium cars
are Saturday, and it ends tomorrow. Go on-line to
Barrett-Jackson.com The Saleen sold for $350K--a steal.

Sadly I know that the Speed Channel is 607 on DirecTV and 250 on Dish Network :). It's one of the only channels I watch.

And the auction is an annual affair for me as well. It doesn't seem like there are as many 'big ticket' cars this year but still several beauties. I think it would be very overwhelming to attend the event, but I'm sure it'd be a great time. It's also fun to check out the paint condition - some are flawless and then there are some that clearly need work.

The first production '55 T-Bird was neat to see. Had been in the same family since new and went for $600K.

Mike Phillips was saying once that the lighting helps a lot in making those cars look awesome, but in reality, they were horrible.

Yeah, the daughter with the T-bird had to wear sunglasses, so
we couldn't see the sadness in her eyes--yeah right--she's
thanking her deceased dad all the way to the bank.

I love and hate that auction, now everyone thinks there junker is worth over 50k. One the other hand it is cool to see these low mileage survivor cars role through showing what these car really looked like.

Yeah, it makes me sick and happy all in one. I love classic muscle, nothing quite like it in the world. You can have all the super cars you want, but nothing is cooler to me than a classic from the 30's 40's, 50's or 60's. Especially a 69 Camaro. I can't wait to restore another (sold the one my dad I did).

It also makes me sick cause some of those cars they meant well when they restored them, but they lost the essence of what the car meant when they go tricking them out beyond belief. I'm a firm subscriber to the KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid!)

I too watch it each year, all three locations now. I was getting tired of listening to the dude with the glasses having to pump up the bidders to pay more??? I remember hearing that Barrett-Jackson was putting his people in the audience to raise auction prices and that these so called low mile unrestored matching number cars were not what people were buying. I am not sure if these allegations were even proven but if they were how can the auction continue and how can people bid with any confidence in what they were trying to buy? I am guessing that the allegations were false.
