Which painters tape do I buy?

Hey guys,


Which painter's tape to I buy, what level of adhesion does it have to have? Is the green stuff too much or too little? Can I get the Blue from wal-mart which is labeled as "medium?"

Get a variety of widths... use the narrow where you can and the wider stuff where you have to.

FWIW, I've used both the blue and the green. Interchangeable as far as I could tell.

i get the thinnest of the two since i tend to use that the most. if i need width i just double up...

I use the Blue 3M tape, sold at AutoZone for like nothing and I only really use it for 50/50 comparisons of different LSP's I'm trying out.

I also don't tape off for polishing but I'm just a dude who likes to keep his cars clean...only gotta answer to myself at the end of the day.

I buy my 3M tape from Home Depot, they have various 3M tapes based on length/width and adhesiveness.

3M green is specifically marketed for automobile use.

Blue or green. They are very close. +1 for different widths.

Home depot they carry all sizes i also picked up a roll of paper that painters use to mask off windows .Brown color about 12 in wide used that with the blue tape to cover part of the windows.

i keep getting this line of residue when i remove the tape, what's the deal with that!!

Don't use the 3m blue extended release ... It doesn't stick very well.

That's where the product gets worked up under the edge. It will come off just like the polish.
