First time with rotary... Need critique please

This is the first time I tried the rotary, went from a UDM.

Car is an 06 Explorer...

Process:

ONR
Prep-All (Wall Mart brand)
SIP x2 CSS Orange 5.5 inch (only size I had)
106FF X2 CSS White 6.5 inch
Prep-All wipedown
Wolfgang DGPS 1X

I can still see a few scratches here and there, but looks MUCH better and glossier. I did not have more time to do more passes, but was wondering if stepping up to a wool would yield better results. After the 2 passes with SIP, I could still see some webbing. What would everyone suggest? I tried to apply zero pressure with the rotary. Would a little pressure help with the scratches? The SIP also wanted to hop around, grab and dry quickly, the 106FF was smooth and worked well Here are some shots.

just a PC user here so no advice on the rotary. one of these days, I'll make the same move you did. looks good though. Were you nervous?

You should use some pressure on the first pass or two then lighten up and make make another pass with just the weight of the rotary. The thing is, with a wool pad, you need to make passes with foam pads after wards, which adds time.

A wool cutting pad will be more aggressive than the foam. Your arm speed, polisher speed, and pressure will also make a difference. Start out with applying pressure for the first few passes, and then use little to no pressure on the finishing passes.

All paints are different and you need to select the best pad/polish combo for the job. You may also have to tweak your technique a little too in order to make it work the best. This is why you should always start with a test spot. ;)

The hoping is a common problem with the orange pads on a rotary. I would switch over to a wool when an orange pad is needed. The wool pads will cut faster and level the paint better than foam. This in turn will produce a glossier and even shine at the end. After using the wool go back over it with a white pad/106ff and then with a finishing pad with your 106ff. Regardless if it is a wool or orange pad there are are a few steps after that so just you the wool and have a better outcome in the end.

I have a PFW brand new in a bag, will try that this weekend. 15-1800 I suspect with SIP?
