I tried doing that (just using a couple ounces of pure soap). You have to mix it with water otherwise you won't get the foaming action you should be getting.

It also helps to shake it up every few minutes.

add soap after filling with water first or you'll have alot of foam in canister. Shake or swish abit. Then use the foam setting (long brass pin with holes) to adjust the amount used and foam.

I have a different version that has a spin dial.It worked nicely and foamed up great. So my mixture should b more water then soap then?

For a soap that calls for 1oz per gallon: mix water and shampoo 3:1 in tank, the set the dial to 4 oz per gallon. That'll give you 1 oz soap per gallon at the surface. Works great for me with a good soap like DP Extreme Foam and/or Optimum Car Wash.

i usually determine the best mix for each soap and do the following...

take XX oz of car soap and place into a gallon jug (i use old washer fluid bottles)

add the appropriate amount of water to make the same ratio you want in the gun

shake like crazy with cap on and put it on the shelf, walk away

next time you wash the car, fill the foam gun with the pre-mixed bottle...
