Quick question
I just purchased foam pads for my PC.
The pads are a half an inch smaller than my plate.
Is it okay to use them or will I need the bigger pad?

I'm pretty sure you're going to need a bigger pad.

What size pads did you buy? What backing plate are you using?

Your pads should always be at least a half inch bigger than the backing plate. That way you don't have to worry about the pad scratching the paint as you work.

You can buy a smaller backing plate. The just screw on/off. This way you will be able to use different size pads for different areas of the vehicle.

True to some degree. You wouldn't want to use a 3.5" backing plate with a 6" pad. Just get the right bp for the right pads.

Thats what I meant. That way you can change the backing plate and matching pad. Sorry for any confusion.
