Just ordered my Porter. I read the various posts about Porter & Flex, but this is my first polisher and I couldn't pass up the price on the Porter. Next major purchase will be a vacuum cleaner, or something like it. What has been the various experiences with vacuum cleaners. Some guys use shop vacs, some use vacuums that also blow air for additional outside detailing. Ultimately, I would like to get a steam cleaner (maybe next year). So, what kind of "vacuum cleaner" for basic week in- week out cleaning?

Any good wet/dry vac will work. I personally use a Craftsman, but they all work just as well.

I'll stick with my Craftsman Wet/dry vac, I cant quite justify getting a metro vac. Which is a great vacuum, but I rather spend that money else where.

The Metro's are quite nice, but I used the money saved and bought more car products and got my vac at Lowes. Now if someone was giving you a Metro, take it !!!

get a shop vac w/a blower so you can use it to help you dry cars
