Is Manzerna SIP more effective, quicker at taking out defects and better at attaining a gloss with less possible marring, than IP on a non-ceramic finish?

They both have the same cut (3.5) and the same gloss factor (3) Haven't used PO91E, but SIP is great.

I have used 91E with great results. However, everyone on the site always recommends SIP and no one ever mentions IP--or at least that is the impression I get.

If your happy with IP then stick with it, however, you still need to finish down with a less aggressive polish.

SIP is more aggressive and will, IMO, cause more marring.

SIP is a great polish though, it can get out a lot

Indeed, it is very effective. It does leave a noticeable haze though and should be followed with 106FF/A

SIP is more effective than IP, and there's a lot less dust. As Matt said, SIP need to be followed up with a finishing polish.

SIP has a little more bite than IP initially but finishes down quite well. I know some that use it alone with lighter pad, but personally suggest 106FF with grey pad to jewel paint after its use.

So, my follow up is, what is the difference between 106 and 85. I polished my suv with 91e and 85u and I am pleased with the results. However, I am curious as to the differences b/c of the recommendation by so many experienced detailers. I have about 5 more cars to polish and am going to need more product in the future. I am trying to decide if I should switch from the ip, 85 to the sip 105.

I would go with SIP and 106FA, you could 85rd for that extra pop.

is it ok to SIP/IP on Orange pad, then finish off with 85rd on grey pad ?

prefably a 2 step process rather than 3 to save time...

The 106FA has a little better finish than the 85U.

No matter what I decide on the sip/ip issue; I am going to use 106.

That is a big jump. You should go Sip/orange, sip/green then 85rd on a blue pad.
