What's up everyone! Yet another forum for me to get used to. Haha.
Well, without writing a book...I'm new to machine polishing and am currently in the market for a Porter Cable kit from Autogeek. Can anyone recommend one for someone just starting out...on a budget. I've already decided on getting the PC over the Flex. If I'm going to spend that much, I'm going to learn rotary. I can already do everything else, I just now want to get on board with all the professional detailers.
I want to get into detailing cars, I've always enjoyed it, so I thought I'd start a business as a second job while I go to school. I don't want to start it until next summer and I only want it as a summer gig and maybe some weekends while I'm in school. I don't need the money from it, but it'd be good experience and it'll give me an excuse to clean something. I have a huge case of OCD....Obsessive Cleaning Disorder. If figured that'd work with my new business venture "Your OCD Specialist"....Obsessively Clean Detailer!
Oh, and can anyone recommend where to learn detailing? Aside youtube, forums, DVD's...etc. I'm looking for hands on training. I swear I have ADD...if I'm not hands on, I tend to sleep while reading or lose focus. I also live in Sacramento, Ca, so the closer the better.
I figured I could get a job at a dealership or something, but that's gonna take forever to work my way up until they trust me enough to teach me something useful.
