View Full Version : Wet and dry sanding-Whats the benefits of each one?

I am going to remove the OP from my car soon and i am wondering which method it is better to use and why..
Can anyone help me on that please??

Wetsaning is definitely better. I don't know why you would drysand paint unless you were trying to remove it.

Wetsanding will give you smoother results for compounding out. Drysanding will leave the paint too rough.

Simple as that.

Also, drop a little car wash into the busket you are using for water and it will make the weatsanding even smoother.

While i was preparing the car for repainting i noticed that it was much easier to check it with dry sanding but i didn't know that i will have smoother surface with wet sand....What if i will use 1500 dry sand and then follow with a quick pass with 2000 wet sand??
