This car was definitely a challenge. There was a lot of water etching, insect etchings, heavily scratched head lights, and a ton of really deep scratches mixed in with the usual swirls. The toughest part of this detail was getting all the deep scratches out. There were at least 4 deep scratches on every panel. I was able to completely eliminate almost all of them. Some were simply too deep or all the way through the clear. Ok on with the process: Washed and clayed of course followed by a 3 step Polish. Total time 19hrs 22mins. I tried some different Polishes on this one. I was pretty much out of my Power Gloss Compound so I tried Optimum Compound with my Flex using a wool pad. I started using the wool pad on my Flex and I have to say it really works well. The correction ability was definitely needed on this one and the wool was easy to control unlike the foam pads that can “jump around” on you occasionally. The downside to this however is that I was not able to get away with a 2 step process. I tried to clean up the marring from the OC with Menzerna Nano Polish 106ff and it did a good job but I could still see some minor micro marring. Now at this point the paint was very reflective especially with the metallic flake but I just could not settle for any micro marring and decided to hit it with some Menzerna Super Intensive Polish, followed by the 106ff and the micro marring was finally gone. The paint was now super reflective and near perfectly corrected except for the random deep scratch that was not correctable. For protection I topped the paint with 4 Star UPP. Any questions/Comments are welcome.

Headlights were terribly marred and scratched. I did not have time to wet sand them but I didn’t really need to. OC with an orange pad on the UDM knocked most of the scratches out followed by 106ff.

Ok and now for all AFTERS: Sorry no daylight sun shots, the sun had set before I was finished so they are all Halogens! Maybe I can get some from the owner? I love this color.

Thanks guys, tried a bunch of new products on this one and am very pleased. I can say that the wool pads are most likely replacing my yellow CCS foam pads from now on.

Good job and good choice of products for correction. Can you finish down LSP ready with the wool using the Flex?

No, at least not on this clear. Acura clear is relatively softer so there was significant marring that 106ff could not completely correct on its own so I had to hit it with some SIP followed by the 106ff and the results were fantastic.
