My vehicle has chrome exhaust tips that have begin to turn black from the vehicle's exhaust. How would you guys clean these tips? I've tried scrubbing with my wash water, after I've finished the car itself, and I've tried using a chrome polish w/o a lot of success. I've been considering using something like WD40 or carb cleaner to remove the black and then polishing the chrome. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I had this question about two weeks ago. I wanted to clean up my chrome exhaust tips that are on my Acura. What I ended up using is Eagle 1 Nevr Dull, sold here at AG. Works great!

My Lexus has the exhaust through the rear bumper. I use the P21S Polishing soap, and it works GRRREAT !

P21S Polishing Soap - State-of-the-art German metal-polishing technology is now available from P21S. (http://www.autogeek.net/p153.html)

remember some metal polishes are designed for chrome and others for stainless steel and aluminum. Use the correct polish and consider a drill and mushroom bob's for best results.

I went over mine with an old piece of clay, and Mothers Original PowerBall Polishing Tool (http://www.autogeek.net/mo5140.html) with chrome polish

Now I spent a good part of the afternoon on two exhaust tips, but the results were well worth it. I'm sure I could have achieved the results with some of the products mentioned by others, but I was determined to get them clean that afternoon without any new purchases.
