Hi guys.

My mate bought a new mountain bike and wants some sort of protection on the paint.

What are the options ?

I take it - ceramic coating is not meant for mat paints.

Cheers all !

Several companies make matte specific coatings. Off the top of my head gyeon and mckee's 37 make one.

Yes, you can coat matte finishes. See above!

I think coatings for matte finishes are the Dr. Beasley's signature (original?) product.

I have road bike with a matte finish and I go with McKee's 37 Matte Finish Cleaner and Protectant. Think of it as a quick detailer.

While it isn't a coating and won't have the long lasting protection, I did find it really easy to use to protect the finish on the bike. I just give it a quick wipe down periodically to keep the frame looking good and it sheds water if I get caught in the rain.
