I'm sure I'm not alone in my obsession with making cars look immaculate again! I can never help looking at nice/killer cars in trashed shape, and just shaking my head!!! I also think, there either a complete cheap skate to pay the cost of either having it detailed? Or just completely clueless?

But back to being a rare breed. Seriously not many people like us.

But it's a combination of loves for sure!

I tell people I'm practicing for when I get a nice car and by nice car I mean something "special". Some roll their eyes because they say "...but you DO have a nice car"..."it is special" and to a point I agree with them, especially my current car but it's no mid-year coupe or 930 Turbo[emoji779]️

I've always liked to keep whatever vehicle I've had at the looking good, and I've liked that it generally looked better kept than whatever more expensive vehicles were parked around it. I remember when I got a new parking spot at work, inside and undercover, back in 2015, it's always good to impress the HR Director, that a few of the managers commented that my car was always the cleanest in there. I just reminded them that I'm single with no kids, and that car was the most expensive thing I owned, so yeah, I look after it. Also, I think all their cars were leased, so they didn't really care for them. At the time I was driving this thing.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230820/5fc935915fc2bbdbedd010875c4e01df.jpg

I personally enjoy when when ppl are circling their cars (after a full detail) and continuously shake their heads in disbelief.

I find this kind of reaction very entertaining.

And yes, we are a rare breed.

I always enjoy my co-workers. They like to joke around how I have a truck but don't use it as a truck meaning its not covered in mud, pinstripes & dents. These are also the same people who come to me when they purchase a new vehicle wanting to know how to keep it nice. In the back of my head I know this "keep it nice obsession" will last 3 to 6 months before they revert to their yearly washing routine. I still try to help them out with product suggestions though since I enjoy detailing so much.

This is the part I don't understand. I live in the nice side of my city (Concord, NC) and I see new cars in my neighborhood all the time and the vast majority are 50k+. There's a new Model Y every week and almost all of them go to a tunnel wash. What kills me is how after a couple of years of doing this, and the exterior is completely trashed, they think it should be fixed for next to nothing. Because they don't value their vehicles, they think detailing should be cheap since we're only "washing" cars. Here's a conversation I had with someone that wanted their vehicle detailed.

Caller: I need my car's exterior detailed.
Me: Thanks for calling. My exterior detail starts at $135. It's a deep cleaning that will thoroughly clean your exterior, remove all contaminants from the paint and apply a 3-6 month paint sealant.
Caller: Ok. I go to Auto Bell and have the (sic) scratches. Does it fix that?
Me: Now you're talking about paint correction. For your vehicle that starts at $350.
Caller: Oh. My headlights are foggy. Does it fix that?
Me: No. Headlight restoration is an extra charge.
Caller: Ok. Let me talk to my wife.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Most people look at their cars as appliances. Especially leased cars with free car washes.

As previously said, majority of people don't see and don't care about swirls.

This Range Rover had a RRP of about $266,000 before options and on road costs. While it looks shiny in the pics, the paint is swirled to hell from car wash brooms....................

That car is the owner's daily driver and one of five he owns. It's an appliance to him............

I wouldn't call myself a rare breed. My car looks like a b o m b went off in it 95% of the time. It also has a very funky smell from wet dogs and spilt chemicals.

My customers cars on the other hand look amazing....
