Hello everyone!

Maybe I didn't think this through completely. Please give me your expertise opinion.

Last night I completely went over the hood "as a trial" of my GT 350. It has a bunch of fine scratches and such. It turned out pretty good.

I did the following.

1. Clay bar
2. Wolfgang Uber compound
3. Wolfgang finishing glaze
4. Wolfgang paint sealant wax.

I used carpro eraser in between.

So,

Can I use the Gyeon Q2 Mohs evo ceramic coating now? Or no since I put the wax on it?

I plan on finishing the whole car in a week or two.

Thanks [emoji106]

Edit: After some research it looks like a no go. The ceramic needs to bond to bare paint. I guess I could strip the wax off the hood. I also have carpro iron x which I've never used before.

Correct no wax or sealant prior to a coating. You will need to lightly polish it off.

As a side note......you will like the way MOHS EVO goes on....super simple.

As mentioned, you need clean/bare paint. The IronX wont strip this either, a light polish will be required.

Most use it before clay to help break down bonded iron particles which in theory makes claying easier

I find it's best to use an iron remover prior to the clay process. This in theory removes contaminants before you start rubbing on the paint with clay products.

Typically, this is the sequence -

-Wash and rinse as normal
-While still wet, apply the iron remover, allow to dwell for as long as possible without it drying on the paint.
-Rinse thoroughly
-While still wet, use a clay product and lubricant
-Rinse
-Dry

Then follow through with polishing and coating.

As others have said, remove wax with polish. Make sure to use a paint prep after polishing.

I would use Iron X on your car before washing if not to dirty. If not wash and use more on wet car or dry and use less.

Per Car Pros, Iron X is most effective when used on a dry car. It doesn’t dilute product and will have faster reaction.

Also if not in direct sunlight you don’t have to worry about drying.

This from Avi (CarPro) on an older DW forum.
