Hi Guys,

In the process of likely buying a Kia Sorento (new one) for the wife.

I've never owned a Korean Car or worked on one. With all of you pro detailers out there and your vast experience, I was curious on your thoughts around working on their paint.

We're thinking of buying a Sorento with the really nice flat gray (no flake).

Is this going to be super soft paint like a Japanese car? That's my only fear....Soft paint stinks lol.

I owned a 2015 Optima Satin metallic. I found the paint to be on the medium side as far as correcting. Was east to work with. May be totally different now.

My daughter has a KIA Soul. There was nothing peculiar about the paint the last time I did it. I'll be giving it another AIO (D166) job next week.

I have heard/read that that type of paint can be soft. Paint even from same manufacturer can very by type of car, where it’s built, year and yea, even the color.

Polishing best to start with least aggressive and work way forward.

LSP’s, washes and general maintenance is just like regular paint from what I’ve read. No special care needed like matte/ satin paint
