View Full Version : Flex PXE80 vs Rupes Nano/ Flex XCE vs Rupes Mille
Hey guys, in the market for a mini polisher as well as a second machine
With the minis, what would you think is better between the PXE 80 and the Nano? I already have a 3 inch Shinemate EX603
Also , I have a MK3 15 Bigfoot, needed a second machine and was wondering if I should get another one or maybe a forced rotation? Ive used a Flex 3401 for years which I really had zero issues with and liked but was recently stolen, so dont know if I should grab a Mille or XCE, or just get another 15

Hehehhe trust me Im a fan, had mine since 2012, not a single issue with it. Never used my Original Rupes 21 at all.
My machine got stolen, and I replaced it with a 15 MK3 as there wasnt stock on the Flex, and guess what, after about an hour I really started to dig the Rupes, the curvers can be a little tricky till now even but Im used to the tool.
I still miss the forced rotation, as a bigger guy its sometimes easier, as just my relaxed arm pressure is quite heavy. So was thinking of getting a Rupes Mille or the updated Supa Beast, just wanting to know what the cool kids recommend more as I live in a place where I can test drive these bad boys
I also want to get myself a Nano, as a perfectionist in my own cars, there are gaps that even a 3 inch cant get into, and I have finally reached a place in my life where I can afford one of these tools without it making me wonder why I have one( I realized we pay more for this simple small tool, than a full sized one).

Since you already have a 3 inch go for the nano and set it up as a dedicated 1 inch polisher. The PXE is great as a 3 inch but not that great as a 1 inch. I own both tools.
As far as a larger polisher forced rotation is the way to go. You could even get the cordless flex.

Seeing as you already have a 3 inch machine, the Nano would be a natural choice.
Having the 5 and 3 inch machines along with the Nano, I can say having all three on hand is brilliant.

I love the Nano, I even use it polish the edges of glass as well as headlights.

Side note: Are the cordless machines heavier than the corded? If so by how much?

Going by the manufacturer specs -
EB351 15mm (cordless) - 1.98 kg
EX620 Pro 15mm (cord) - 2.5 kg
I'm not sure if the 1.98 kg for the cordless machine is inclusive of a battery though. The 5.0Ah battery is listed as 0.7kg.
What I have found with those battery polishers is how the battery weight seems to improve the overall balance of the machine.

I ‘m guessing the weight is w/o battery but even with adding the .7 it’s still very close!

Biggest difference is pad rotation. Mille rotates the same direction as most polishers do (clockwise I believe)
Flex goes other direction and some say it feels like your fighting it till you get use to it.
Also ergonomics are different.

I went shopping for a 3 inch machine and ended up buying the 5 inch one while I was at it. These replaced a Porter Cable style polisher that I got in about 2008.

Ideally, I would have gone with Flex but for Australia, they are so far out of the ballpark in price. I'm a brand snob through to the core, but at those asking prices just didn't add up for me. And it pains me to type that because I usually just by the best for pretty much everything. As I don't polish cars for a living, I chose to spend a bit wiser in this departmant.
Using the XFE-150 as an example, Auto Geek sell the kit for $566.99 compared to Australian distributors selling them at $1049. As I said, I would have loved to put Flex into my cabinet, but the a similar spend got me a 3 and 5 inch machine, four batteries, a charger and a storage bag. While Flex is undoubtably a better machine, for hobbyist polishing, they are fine.
@DFB You a legend mate, and yeah I feel you, Im based in a small country to the right of South Africa so deal with even more hectic pricing here
