*Suggestion for under hood LSP product*

I did the truck engine bay today for the first time, I used Griots trim & detail aerosol spray.
It gets good results, however 40% is cast into the air as a fine mist....that and 2 engines and the can is empty.

Does anyone use a good product that is a spray(bottle) that drys down to a satin finish?

A lot of folks on here seem to like Sonus Motorkote. I plan to try it later this spring when it's more dry out.

Sonia Motorkote is what I would recommend as well.

I'll be honest, underhood is one of the few places I still use ONR. I'm not wild about the slick underhood plastic look; ONR just leaves it clean but doesn't get the rapid dirt reaccumulation. I'll dig back and find a picture for what it ends up looking like.

I've also used Ultima Acrylic Waterless wash and had similar results; that one probably worked slightly better on underhood paint than ONR.

If you've got compressed air, you can just mist it on, blast if off with air and give it a final wipedown. Goes pretty quick.

It's not flashy, just nice and clean. The plastics were ONR, the exposed metal (strut towers and brace, inner fender edges, brake booster, core support, etc) was the Ultima.

(Nevermind the staining on the core support in the bottom right corner, it came like that. Somebody got some kinda serious chemical on there).

One thought though, if you've been using dressing on the plastics I'd do a test section to make sure it doesn't mess with the rinseless - IE: Splotchy looking because not all the dressing is gone.

I suppose any detailer would be worth a try....I like the blow dry idea before it dries:xyxthumbs:

I've used Sonus Motorkote, Hyper-Dressing 5:1, 303 and Can Coat. 303 is readily available and works well. You can actually spray it on and let it dry and it will self level. I know it doesn't say that but it does work. I found that out after watching a video from Polishedbliss in the UK.

ONR works great under the hood.

After I got it clean, I just lightly spray Meguiars Hyper Dressing @1:1 and let it self level.

It might be a bit too glossy for your tastes but once it dries it’s not greasy and doesn’t attract dust. As a matter of fact my engine has never looked like it did in that 1st pic since I initially cleaned and dressed it almost 3yrs. ago.

I simply refresh it every 4-5 months or so by either vacuuming or quikly wiping it down with a rag and some APC and re spray with Hyper Dressing @1:1 it lasts a super long time.

To get in all the nooks and crannies thoroughly, I use foam paint brushes. Every surface comes out dressed.

Koch Chemie Motorplast spray use leaf blower

After cleaning I spray 303 at 2:1 and let it level and hit it with a leaf blower

I’ll hit the nooks and crannies with a microfiber
