View Full Version : My favorite ceramic detail spray contains a small amount of isopropyl alcohol, is that a problem?

I was reading over the SDS sheet of my favorite ceramic detail spray (Technicians Choice Ceramic Detail Spray) and I noticed that it contains 1-5% isopropyl alcohol. I know that paint prep sprays used to remove waxes and oils contain alcohol, albeit at much higher concentrations.

Is it safe to use a detail spray that contains this small concentration of alcohol? I just want to make sure it doesn't degrade my wax or sealant.

Thank you,

You are over thinking it, you’ll be fine.

Any IPA will effect the longevity (degrade) of a wax and/or sealant...especially if it's the upper of 5%

My guess would be that the alcohol is there to flash off any excess product residue to avoid streaking?

I was thinking the same thing.

Probably just to "clear the runway" for actives that remain to get a better chance to bond.

That makes sense. Thanks for pointing that out.

Technicians Choice makes great products .When I worked for a Toyota dealer all new and used cars were wiped down with Technicians Choice Aqua Glow spray wax before delivery.
