New member from snow covered North Dakota. I just picked up my first Griots G9 along with some Meguiars M105 and M205 and I'm excited to give my classic car the shine it deserves. I am a true newbie to doing machine polish, so I look forward to all the great information and opinions that this forum has to offer. :D

Merry Christmas and welcome

You got ya a G9...I'd get Griots Correcting cream...easier and less dusting...just a thought.
You will be fine with 105/205...it's just my personal choice

Thanks, I will certainly look into the Griots Correcting Cream. Would you use the yellow bottle Griots or would you recommend the Boss lines? I purchased the G9 in a kit with the M105 and M205 and thought i would be a good place to start. I just tried to make a post in detailing 101 with questions on polishing a 1970 Cuda, please feel free to give me your opinions.

Thanks again,

Again you will be fine with Meg's creams...just my preference.
Since you are new to this....start mild...if you pick Griots...go with a yellow pad while you get used to the G9.

Is your paint original on the '70?

The car was restored and repainted somewhere between about 12 -15 years ago and drove it very little between now and then. It is a Base coat / Clear Coat, but the gentleman that I bought it from didnt know too many more details. The body shop that he had do the work has since retired and closed up shop, but did have a good reputation for doing good work. The paint is still in very good condition, but as mention, in my other post if it was approved, is it has some haze or marring to the finish. Probably in part due to a cheap car cover that it was stored under for many years and or oxidation and lack of paint protection. It had some overspray that I have removed with clay bar and clay lube.

Thanks,

Ok cool
You are good to go with low worries, if it was original single stage paint, I wouldn't recommend to start polishing with this car...lol

post up some pics of the work if you get a chance
