Hey everyone, new to the forum and want to know which to use first. I just purchased a 2007 Corvette Z06 that has spent at least the last 5 years outside here in Seattle. It is waterspotted and the finish desperately needs work. I plan to use iron remover and water spot remover but want to know which one to use first before I clay and polish. It is dark blue if that matters and will now be garaged full time after I coat it. Any advice appreciated.

If your planning on polishing, you won't need a water spot remover. The polish if aggressive enough will remove the water spots.

Got any pics? How bad is the water spotting?

Water spot removers only work on fresh ones and even then, most of the times end up disappointing. Like mentioned above, the abrasion from polishing should remove the water spots and if any remain, step up in aggressiveness (pad and/or product).

I don’t have any pics of the water spotting and it’s raining right now. So I should use iron remover, forget the spot remover and just polish out the spots after claying.

Iron remover, wash, clay, and polish. :)

Are you machine polishing? (I hope)......

Awesome car! I would love to own a C6 ZO6.

More than likely the water spots have etched the surface. I would do a test spot to see if your polish will remove the water spots. You may have to start with a compound to remove the etched water spots and then polish the surface before you prep for a coating.

Iron Remover
Wash
Clay
Compound
Polish
Prep Spray
Ceramic Coat

If you use something like Griot's Fast Correcting Cream, you can knock out the compound/polish in one step.

The FCC finishes down so nicely, you rarely need to chase it with a finishing polish. Awesome product! :props:

Which Griot's machine do you have?

I’m here in WA down in Auburn. Where you located? If you don’t mind a trip to Griots flagship store in Tacoma they’ll let you test out pad and creme combo’s to see what you’ll need to knock them out.

Nice candy shop!

I had significant waterspots on a past mustang of mine and they thought i’d need FCC. Found out Correcting creme on an orange knocked it out

It’s an old porter cable machine but keeps on running. I’ve been to the griots store many times and started using their stuff about 20 years ago when I lived in Cincinnati. I live in bothell.
