I washed 30 brand new microfibers the other day. When I pulled out the towels there were two small chunks of rusty metal at the bottom of the washer (about the size of a dime). One towel had a rusty mark on it (I threw it out).

These were premium towels. I took them to the laundromat and washed them again. Would you trust these on new paint? I'm a little concerned of teeny bits of metal/rust in them. I just clayed both my cars, the last thing I want to do is scratch them.

You should be feeling your towels anyway so I’d think you’d feel metal pieces. The other thing I’d grab is a neodymium magnet and pull that over your towels to make sure there aren’t any bits.

I know these are premium towels but you ultimately may decide to relegate them to wheel duty since the cost of these premium towels isn’t near the cost of your car’s paint. Really sucks though.
